[cacti-user] Multiple data sources in one graph?

Hey guys, i am newbie to cacti, but managed to run my first external
script. But i have some few questions as follows

1. is it possible to have multiple sources of data or script data
showing on same chart. that is showing 2 different data sources on a
single graph.

2. is it possible for cacti to represent data sources in different types
of graphs. that is having something like pie or bar chart, instead of
the default ways it graphs?

3. Is it possible also for cacti to represent a graph of more than 1
machines scripts on a graph?

Thanks for your reply.

You said i can get multiple data sources including external machines.
Please how then do i set the path to this data sources on external
machines.?

Example:

machine1 which has cacti and
machine2 which is the other machine with a script i want to graph.

all on my network and also some might be on a different network

Thnx.

any step by step docs for all this and what u thought me in the last
reply?

Hello,

Ah I see now - the script output would need to be collected and stored in cacti within an RRD file - the process to do which has been discussed in the past and available in the cacti forum http://www.cacti.net - in here is also documentation about advanced features such as this,

Thanks,

Larry

1. is it possible to have multiple sources of data or script data =
showing on same chart. that is showing 2 different data sources on a =
single graph.=20
Absolutely - I did this the manual way, by created a custom graph and =
adding in the datasources - I believe the plugin "aggregate 0.7" now =
allows you to pick and choose which items to place on a single graph and =
will prove to be an excellent improvement on manually adding multiple =
datasources - once you install the plugin architecture (it is well worth =
doing) it is a simple step to enable multiple plugins that extend cacti =
incredibly, my favourites are superlinks (for extra tabs), weathermap =
(for great flow diagrams) and thold, for threshold alerting.

2. is it possible for cacti to represent data sources in different types =
of graphs. that is having something like pie or bar chart, instead of =
the default ways it graphs?
Not that I'm aware of - Cacti uses RRDTool to store and display data =
captured, this isn't something I've come across and think is beyond =
RRDTools capabilities (but sounds interesting!) - I'd look into RRDTool =
docs for this, but assume not

3. Is it possible also for cacti to represent a graph of more than 1 =
machines scripts on a graph?=20
As with 1. - this is definitely do-able, I graph multiple PDU's to =
capture power from rows of racks in data centres, manually as I have =
done or via the afore mentioned aggregate plugin

Hope that helps,

Thanks,

Larry
